Booking
Applicants must book an appointment on the Application Portal before coming to the Embassy in Cairo to hand in their supporting documents.
It is not possible to book an appointment without completing the registration of a visa application. An appointment can be changed or cancelled by the applicant on the Application Portal.
Application fee
The application fee must be paid electronically (VISA or Master Card) on the secure Application Portal after filling in the application form online. The application will not be sent to the Embassy before the payment has been successfully processed (usually wiithin a few seconds). In order to avoid misuse of the Portal, all applicants who are exempt from paying must ‘pay the visa fee initially. However, the amount is only reserved on their bank account. When the applicant turns up at the Embassy and documents the right to exemption the fee will be refunded electronically.
How to apply - First time users
The first time you use the Application Portal you must create a user and then log in with your username and password.
When you have registered yourself as a user on the Portal, you can fill in the application form, pay the application fee online and book an appointment at the Embassy.
How to apply - Existing users
Applicants who have used the Application Portal before can simply log on, use the last application as a template and change details such as travel dates, etc., pay the fee and book an appointment to hand in the supporting documents.
No Internet access?
There are a number of Internet cafes in Egypt where you can make an application online. It is also possible for the sponsor in Norway, or a travel agent, to register an application online on behalf of the applicant (e.g. log on and pay the application fee). Sponsors who complete the entire process for the applicant (and the applicant is unable to log on to the Portal him/herself) must send a copy of the completed application form to the applicant, so that he/she is fully aware of the information being submitted.
Group registration
Applications can be registered individually or in groups on the Portal. A group may consist of 1 - 5 applicants. However, it is a requirement that all applicants have the same nationality and are travelling on the same dates with the same itinerary. Registering many applications as a group saves time, however, only individual applications may be copied for subsequent applications in the future. Families or people who always travel together to Norway may therefore want to register all applications individually. Please contact the Embassy for assistance in booking appointments for group applications.
How to proceed after the application is registered
Applications should be submitted no more than three months before the start of the intended visit, and we highly recommend that you submit your application at least 15 days prior to the intended travel.
A number of documents are required in order to process a visa or residence/work application.
For all applications the cover letter has to be printed and signed by the applicant.
All applicants must bring the cover letter from their online application and complete supporting documents as listed in the relevant checlist.
Please note that the Embassy has adopted the harmonized Schengen list of requirements. When you apply you must bring all the original supporting documents and a perfect copy of each. The copies must be A4, with no staples, no stickers and no torn pages. After we have seen the originals, you will get the originals in return and the copies will be filed. The only original we need to keep is the guarantee form from the reference in Norway. Please note that applicants with insufficient documentation may be asked to make a new appointment when their papers are in order. Applicants who insist on submitting insufficient documentation might be rejected on formal grounds.
