The total value of Norwegian fish exports to Egypt nearly tripled from 2005 to 2006.
16/01/2007 :: According to the latest statistics from the Norwegian Export Council for Fish, the total value of Norwegian fish exports to Egypt in 2006 was USD 14.4m, up from USD 5.2m in 2005.
The export of salmon doubled in 2006, and represented about a third of the total value. Herring exports increased tremendously in 2006, and made up about half of the total value. This made Egypt the sixth most important market for Norwegian herring in 2006.
The fact that Norwegian fish exports to Egypt doubled from 2004 to 2005 (see article) makes the current increase even more impressive.
Norway is one of world’s three biggest fish exporters, and in 2006 the total value of Norwegian fish exports totalled 5.6 bn USD. This is an increase of approximately 10 percent from 2005.
