Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre visited Egypt on April 3 and 4 for meetings with Egyptian officials.
10/04/2007 :: During his first official visit to Egypt, Foreign Minister Gahr Støre met with Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit, Minister Omar Suleiman, and Arab League Secretary General Amre Moussa.
His talks centered on the current situation in the Middle East, with a special focus on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Norway was the first Western country to normalise relations with the Palestinian National Unity Government, and the Foreign Minister expressed hope that more European countries would follow suit.
The Foreign Minister talked to reporters from local and international press, and was also interviewed on Nile TV.
